Yerushalayim: City Hall Accused of Ignoring Chareidi Areas during the Snow Storm

07Jerusalem City Hall is being accused of discriminating against chareidi residents of the city during the snow storm. Residents of chareidi areas sent emails to the hot line email address explaining there is no one manning the offices of local councils around the city during the storm. The local ‘minhal kehilati’ offices are to be manned during the storm to provide residents with a representative of City Hall to address storm-related issues.

When asked to comment on the complaints, City Hall officials insist the complaints may be accurate but in no way reflect reality. They explain that it may be that when a specific person phoned minhal employees may have been out for a short period, insisting the chareidi area offices are operating as are the offices in all neighborhoods of the city.

  1. I dont know about the counsels but we had a tractor cleaning the roads up here for many hours without a break. He went up and down the streets here and did a great job. Much better than last time. he was still sweeping the streets at 2am after being there from at least in the late afternoon.

  2. Calm down

They use their limited resources for the main areas and thoroughfares (and spare a little for where their political chummies dwell)

Ask anyone who lives in Staten Island.
The blocks associated with City trucks and sanitation dept. (i.e. the mafia) are always cleaned immediately.

  3. Does anyone blame the municipality for not going into Charedi neighborhoods? I don’t! I wouldn’t either!

The unsupervised youth there are (instead of sitting and learning) constantly making demonstrations, burning tires and garbage bins, blocking traffic and making a major Chillul Hashem….

Now you go a head and blame the municipality for not coming….?!

  4. Klal Yisroel:
please do not speak for “klal yisroel” you are so narrowminded and judgemental… with a tinge of stupid in the mix. You are mentioning one area….. there are hundreds of other chareidi areas that are very calm and abiding.. In addition, I hope your brain capacity can handle this. In the area of the demonstrations 70% atleast of the residents pay their taxes and are law abiding citizens. The demonstrations are all the zealots in all the cities coming to this area…. In any case, even if it is the case; what has one thing to do with the next.

  5. I also don’t know what you are talking about. I live in a ultra religious area and after the main roads were cleared, the tractors came in to our areas and cleared our roads too.
