Veteran Hebron resident and activist Rabbi Hillel Horowitz has been tapped to step in and replace Minister of Senior Citizen Affairs Uri Orbach z”l, who was niftar on Monday, 27 Shevat.
Horowitz is known for his commitment to Hebron, working tirelessly to bring visitors and build the community. Since 2013 he also serves as head of the Council of Cemeteries in Yerushalayim.
Horowitz tells the media that this is not how he wished to enter politics as he and countless others were being mispallel for Orbach’s recovery. Horowitz, who is number 13 on the list, will fill in for Orbach until elections. He will serve as a MK for the next month because the law compels filling the void.

This is a bit misleading, it sounds like e is replacing Urbach as Ministers, this is not the case, he is only replacing him as MK.
It has been reported that Rabbi Horowitz has left Habayit Hayehudi and joined Yachad for the upcoming elections. If so, he should resign from the Knesset and allow the next member on the list to fill Uri Orbach’s Knesset seat. With the Knesset on break and elections but a few weeks away there is no practical nafka mina, but it seems the mentchlach thing to do.
