According to a Walla News report, the family of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L is refusing to assist Aryeh Deri and his Shas party in the upcoming elections. Walla states that Rav Moshe Yosef, who took care of Maran for 20 years, refuses to release videos requested by Deri showing Rav Ovadia’s life.

It is reported that Rav David Yosef, who was appointed to the Shas Torah Council and Rishon L’Tzion Rav Yitzchak Yosef are supporters of Deri while Chief Rabbi of Holon Rabbi Avraham Yosef and other family members are not.

During an election campaign meeting in Shas headquarters last week it was decided to focus on the life of Maran in the chareidi community campaign. Hence, they turned to Rav Moshe for video footage. Similar requests were made of other family members too but due to the fact that some of the family members are not Deri fans, the family decided to distance itself from the election campaign.
