Last month, HaGaon HaRav Reuven Elbaz was appointed as a member of the Shas party Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael. The President of the Torah Council, HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita arrived at Yeshivat Ohr Chaim to officially inform Rav Elbaz.
Rav Cohen arrived on Sunday morning 26 Shevat, weeks after Rav Elbaz’s appointment to make the official announcement before Rav Elbaz’s talmidim. He referred to Rav Elbaz as “The Moshe Rabbeinu of our generation”.
Rav Cohen added, “I know Rav Elbaz for some time, for over 40 years as we learned together in Yeshivat Porat Yosef before it was built in the Old City”.
Rav Elbaz responded “Moreinu V’Rabbeinu was my rosh kollel, the rosh yeshiva”.
Rav Cohen:
Since then I have realized your koach due to this. HKBH told Moshe, Moshe resisted a great deal…I don’t know if the rav resisted or not but at the end, Moshe Rabbeinu of the generation, Moshe Rabbeinu”.
Rav Elbaz:
I am the MeShamesh of the chachamim.
Rav Cohen:
The shamesh is greater than the teacher. I sent a letter and since I am aware of his koach and dedication as well as the Yiras Shomayim, he had to join the Torah Council.
I don’t know what he has told you but I wanted only you to join us and brought you in as the response was a positive one”.

Methinks this a little de trop.
Has Rav Elbaz got a stutter … ?
Rabbi Cohen is very familiar with Moishe Rabeinu.
The gentleman referred to as the ‘Moshe Rabbeinu of Our Generation’ is a convicted felon who served 22 months in jail. Then again, in Deri’s Sha”s that is probably an accolade.
Would like to know who is in the running for Aharon Hakohen of our generation
why didnt he say this before Rabbi Elbaz’s entering the political party? Im sorry, but it sounds so political, like Rav Cohen SHLITA was obeying instructions from deri
