Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has gone on the offensive against the daily Yediot Achronot newspaper and its publisher, Noni Moses. Mr. Netanyahu explains the newspaper knows no bounds and it will do whatever it takes to launch attacks against him and his family to topple the government and close down Yisrael Hayom to regain its prominent place as the nation’s leading newspaper.
Yisrael Hayom is owned by Sheldon Adelson, a friends of the prime minister and his newspaper, which provides a friendly forum for Mr. Netanyahu, is distributed free of charge nationwide and has surpassed Yediot as the nation’s leading newspaper.
The prime minister blames Moses personally for launching the attacks against his wife in the media, including the recent ‘bottle gate’ scandal which alleges Mrs. Sara Netanyahu pocketed the money received for bottles returned for recycling in the Prime Minister’s Residence.
Netanyahu added “The attacks against me are not just daily, but sometimes hourly and even twice hourly”. He adds that there are many others who do not hesitate to criticize his administration, but they do so honorably, within the parameters of their profession.
He states “This is just the tip of the iceberg and I will elaborate in the future,” vowing to remain steadfast, both himself personally and the Likud party.

Everyone in Israel knows that all Israeli media are partisan. So of course a newspaper that supports Labor will want to bring down Likud. Other media are pro-Likud.
This is yet another YWN story with a dramatic headline about an “agenda” to “topple” Israel’s current administration by defeating Mr. Netanyahu’s party in the upcoming election, but the article under the headline has no information about any “agenda” of the newspaper Yediot Achronot.
The only “agenda” I detect is YWN’s apparent support for Mr. Netanyahu.
And since when does winning a lawful election constitute “toppling” a government?
As for Sheldon Adelson’s newspaper, it is not free – he is merely “comping” all Israelis, so they will go to his casinos.

Yediot’s Bill was the of the main catalysts of the call for elections
