Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Arba HaGaon HaRav Dov Lior Shlita officially took leave of Kiryat Arba to move to Yerushalayim. Rabbi Lior has moved into a home near Yeshivat Beit Orot in the eastern capital. In his new home, the rav will not fill any official post, but his gabbaim explain after settling in the rav hopes to assist in any way he can.
In the video posted below, the rav is seated with two prominent area rabbonim, Rabbi Moshe Levinger Shlita who is viewed as the founding father of the renewed settlement in Hebron and Rabbi Eliezer Waldman Shlita, Rosh Yeshivat Hesder Kiryat Arba.
Many community leaders and residents turned out to bid their mora d’asra farewell.

Living in Kiryat Arba all these years is real Mesirat Nefesh.
No, Gilda, living in Kiryat Arba is not mesirat nefesh, and Rav Lior Shlita never considered it as such. I would say living in America is mesirat nefesh, handing over one’s soul to the culture of the Gentiles.

Mesirat Nefesh is when we are commanded to do so. Otherwise it may fall under ‘suicide’, which is not permitted by Jewish Law.
Not that we have to comment about other peoples wrongdoings, but if it ios being publicly praised, the truth has to be voiced as well.
