HaRav Elbaz Has Extremely Harsh Words for Eli Yishai

elbazHaGaon HaRav Reuven Elbaz Shlita, a member of the Shas party Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael, compares former Shas member Eli Yishai to Yerovam ben Nevat (יָרָבְעָם בֶּן נְבָט) and states he will receive Gehenom.

Rabi Elbaz and Dayan Tzion Boaron Shlita held a central drasha in Beis Medrash Chanichei HaYeshivos. At the end of the event the tzibur present discussed the importance and significance of the Shas party and Rav Elbaz’s declaration that Shas has the potential to reach 40 seats in Knesset. Rav Elbaz then began a verbal assault against Yishai, stating that Yishai’s simply yearns to be in charge at that is what drives him. “He is like Yerovam ben Nevat and at the end, will earn Gehenom. All that interests him is being in charge — Yerovam ben Nevat”.

  1. If shas will get 40 seats why would anyone care about yishai. between the shas fiasco and the ponovich chillul hashem we are not looking like am hanivchar

  2. Can Shas please stop attacking Yishai. It only hurts Shas. Let Shas focus on its core message of helping the poor — and let Yishai focus on his new constituency.

    What’s more, it rings a little shallow for Shas to attack Yishai’s character. The impression the public has is that Yishai is yashar and sincere. That is not the impression that the public has for the current head of Shas (rightly or wrongly). And when Shas attacks Yishai and he doesn’t respond it simply reinforces that impression.

    So why go there?

  3. The way these things usually pan out, several people will now Davka vote for Eli Yishai, & this may give him a boost of more votes:- i.e more seats.

  4. wow, im surprised he doesn’t know nach

    yeravam had a navi tell him to do it, yeravam did it l’sheim shamayim and yeravam went off because wanted to keep his melucha, as opposed to yishai who is fine working along side shas

  5. How much credibility does Shas have left? As I said before, when Rabbonim are involved in partisan politics, they just diminish themselves and it harms the people who follow that particular Rov and Klal yisroel in general.

  6. New polls today show that only 12% of people who will vote for Yishai are former shas voters.
    Which means;

    1) attacking yishai to favor shas has no good strategic purpose.

    2) Yishai was right when he said he will bring voters who would otherwise not vote for a chareidi party.
