The visit by a delegation of Israeli cyber-security companies to London comes in the wake of a successful visit by a similar delegation in the British capital in June, 2014. The delegation will hold business meetings with key players in British industry and government involved in cyber-security and information security, with a focus on protecting energy, gas and water infrastructures.

The mission, organized at the initiative of the Foreign Trade Administration’s Head of the Economic and Trade Mission in London Nathan Tsror and in cooperation with the Israel Export Institute, follows increased interest from leading British industry officials in Israeli cyber-security solutions. The delegation is headed by Dr. Tal Steinherz, Chief Technological Officer for Israel’s National Cyber Bureau at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The delegation will include roundtable discussions, networking, seminars, presentations, one-on-one meetings and a gala reception. The visit will give the Israeli companies an opportunity to meet with potential partners, clients, investors and industry peers in Britain.

The visit was preceded by groundwork to deepen cooperation between both countries in the field of cyber-security. These efforts bore fruit in visits by senior British government and police officials including Cabinet Office Minister Francis Maude and Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe.

Nathan Tsror, the Foreign Trade Administration’s Head of the Economic and Trade Mission in London, said: “UK-Israel relations on cyber-security are of critical importance. Israel has more than 20 years of cyber-security experience which can greatly contribute to the UK, in particular to British authorities involved in protecting critical national infrastructure, which is among the main concerns of the British government. Our first cyber-security delegation in June established an important basis for this partnership and the visit in February is another step forward to build on this momentum.”

Ahiad Alter, Head of the Cyber Branch at the Israeli Export Institute, said: “Cyber-security is one of the fastest growing fields in Israel’s technology industry. The British cyber-security market is considered one of the leading in the field and is a key target for Israeli companies. This delegation has representatives from veteran companies and startups alike. All will present groundbreaking technologies for protecting critical infrastructure. I believe these meetings will help Israeli companies create significant working relationships leading to business ties that will increase Israeli sales to the UK market.”

Dr. Tal Steinherz, Chief Technological Officer at the Israeli National Cyber Bureau, said, “This delegation is another step in cementing Israel’s position as a world leader in cyber-security technologies and solutions. It conveys our government’s commitment to continue to advance the Israeli cyber-security industry in the face of increasing global demand for innovation in this challenging field.”

According to the Foreign Trade Administration in the Israeli Ministry of Economy, trade with the UK stood at $5.7 billion in 2014, from which $4 billion came from exports – a rise of 2% compared to exports to the UK in 2013 and a rise of a full 10% compared to exports in 2012.
