Higher tolls on the Tappan Zee Bridge, Interstate 95 in New Rochelle and Interstate 87 in Yonkers greeted drivers this morning for the first commute to work of 2009.
The new Tappan Zee Bridge toll is $5 cash, $4.75 with an E-ZPass or $3 for those in the commuter plan. The New Rochelle toll on I-95 is $1.75 cash or $1.66 with E-ZPass. The Yonkers toll is 1.25 cash or $1.19 with an E-ZPass.
The increases, which went into effect yesterday, are part of a multiyear plan to boost Thruway Authority revenue.
Tolls are slated to go up another 5 percent on New Year’s Day in 2010.
