Tzvika Cohen, who heads the Shas faction list in the Jerusalem Municipality, declined to accept a realistic slot on the Shas Knesset ticket. Cohen explains that he is not able to abandon the needs of the Sephardi girls. He is quoted telling Shas leader Aryeh Deri that he is flattered by the offer but he cannot abandon the Sephardi girls who are the subject of ongoing discrimination in the capital and this is what he sees as his true responsibility at present.
The Shas Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah is set to convene on Thursday afternoon, 9 Shevat, to close the party’s Knesset list.
