New York’s attorney general says a scammer has been calling people claiming to be from his office.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says the phone scammer threatens people with a lawsuit and possible arrest and tells them to call 347-779-0198 – a number associated with other phone scams. A voicemail claims the number is associated with attorney Sam Wilson from the attorney general’s office.
Schneiderman reminds New Yorkers that his office does not solicit personal information over the phone. He said consumers should report suspicious phone calls.
