HISTORICAL, OR HYSTERICAL? NYC Predictions Of Three Feet End Up With Only 8 Inches On Ground!

snow.jpgInitial forecasts projected a “historical storm” with as much as 3 feet of snow to fall on parts of the tri-state area, but snowfall projections were greatly reduced by early Tuesday morning. By the time the snow stops falling Tuesday afternoon, between 4 and 8 inches of snow are expected to be on the ground in New York City. Up to 20 inches of snow are possible in eastern Suffolk County, and more than 18 had accumulated in some parts of the county by 7:30 a.m.. Areas further west should get 3 to 6 inches. As of 9:00AM, La Guardia Airport had 11 inches, JFK 8.6 inches, and Central Park 7.8 inches.

Eastern Long Island was the hardest hit by the storm: Islip Airport had 14.7 inches of snow by 3 a.m. Tuesday, and Upton had 12.1 inches. 7.5 inches of snow fell in Islip during the day Monday, breaking a previous record for Jan. 27, set in 1987.

Social media has already lit up with jokes poking fun at the Mayor.

One of them read: “Bill DeBlasio is telling his son (Dante) this morning to be careful around Weathermen, they cannot be trusted”……

  1. The only profession where you could be so wrong so often and still keep your job. Not only that but you are revered and quoted again and again as if their predictions are G-D given prophesies.

  2. The real dicotomy can be understood as follows. In an unchanging dynamical effects of each opportunity in each potential storm allows room for focal pointing in manifesting each ramification of the theory of global warnings. Let us all achieve the essence of our parallel potential here.

  3. Those of us who were davening for the safety of all the Jewish communities thank Hashem Yisborach for averting the din and having mercy on us

  4. Once again mayor de doofus relying on the wrong people. Wunderground predicted 8-10″. But the mayor relied on national weather service’s prediction of 2-3 feet. What do you expect from someone who considers rev. al a trusted aide?

  5. Vustutz- you forgot to go to HS what in the world were you tring to say it looks like you tried to use a thesaurus but didn’t know how

  6. Chasdei Hashem that it wasn’t as bad as they were predicting. Instead of giving shevach to HaKadosh Baruch Hu for sparing us we are mocking the weatherpeople and the Mayor for their overpreparation. Would we have been happier with a storm as bad as they were predicting? Or worse?
