The cost of a New York City subway ride is going from $2.50 to $2.75 under a package of fare increases approved by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The fare increases approved by the MTA board Thursday will take effect on March 22.

The price of a 30-day MetroCard will go up by $4.50 to $116.50.

The board also approved fare increases for the Long Island Rail Road and the Metro-North Railroad.

Tolls will increase for the MTA’s bridges and tunnels as well.

The last time the subway fare went up was 2013 when the cost of a single ride rose from $2.25 to $2.50.

MTA Chairman Thomas Prendergast said before the vote that he would work to make the authority operate as cost-effectively as possible.
