Arriving in his private plane, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg visited Ashkelon as was reported earlier. He also came to visit with rocket attack victims in the city’s Barzilai Hospital. The mayor brought gifts for the children as he explained that he and others have learned the lessons of 9/11, giving total support for the ongoing Israeli military operation in Gaza.
The visiting mayor explained his visit is one of support and solidarity. He is accompanied by NYC Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and Congressman (NY-Rep.) Gary Ackerman.
The delegation is expected to meet with mayors in rocket-stricken areas and former New Yorkers. They are planning to be back in NYC on Monday.
