Mayor Bloomberg & NYPD Commish Arrive On Solidarity Mission to Israel

bloomis.jpgIn a show of solidarity with a country at war, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg has arrived in Israel, YWN has learned.

Although the exact details of the trip have not been publicized due to security concerns, YWN has confirmed that Bloomberg will be visiting the cities of Sderot and Ashkelon early Sunday morning / afternoon, and plans to visit New Yorkers who have moved to Israel.

The Mayor is traveling with NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly and Chairman of the House Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia Congressman Gary Ackerman (D-NY).

The Mayor is also scheduled to meet with high-level officials, including Prime Minister Olmert, and plans on returning to NYC on Monday morning.

The mayor “is going in order to show his support for Israel,” said spokesman Andrew Brent.

The trip comes as Israel launched a full-blown ground offensive in Gaza following eight days of punishing air strikes that failed to halt militant rocket attacks on Israel.

Complete coverage on the trip – as well as photos will be posted on YWN as soon as they become available to us.

  1. GOOD GOING MAYOR AND THANX FOR YOUR SUPPORT ITS GOOD TO SEE THAT THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE THAT STICK UP FOR ISRAEL AND I WOULD DEFINITLY VOTE FOR YOU A THIRD TERM.

  2. But Mr. Maya, what about shooting all of the rabbis? How could you on the one hand years ago state that opinion and then come to Israel?

Oh, I know, you want to make aliya and go learn full time in a yeshiva! Sure, sure thing Mr. Maya. You would look great with a shaven head, a long beard, and sidelocks swaying over a page of Talmud!

So, I hope when you come you also check out where the yeshivos of Ofakim, Netivot, etc. are now and where their bochurim are sleeping. Oh, and then come to Bnei Brak and see all of the Vishnitzer families with refugees from Sderot and Beersheba. We will welcome you and maybe take you to hear Rabbi Amnon Yitzchak. So, come to Israel and welcome home Mr. Maya!

  3. Amen to the P.S. of Sinaipres. The word mayor is spelled M-A-Y-O-R. And are you going to be there to escort him to Rabbi Amnon Yitzchak? And what opinion are you talking about.

  4. P.S. I think that Flatbush Bubby is loosing it.

    Comment by Sinaipres
She may or may not be losing it but she’s not loose.
    Criticize the critics!
(No matter what the Mayor does, someone will criticize him. He’s showing his support in the name of NYC).
