Some Shas officials fear that Eli Yishai will still exercise the ‘Sephardi option’ which means mending fences with Rabbi Chaim Amsellem of the Am Shalem party and with Rav Amnon Yitzchak. Such an act would undoubtedly bring enormous backing to Yishai’s Yachad party from among the Sephardi rank and file.
While Dr. Michael Ben-Ari and Baruch Marzel have been in talks with HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita, clearly Yishai fears his party will be labeled “Right-wing extremist” and is likely to favor mending fences with the others whom have tossed aside by Shas.
Officials in Yachad deny the accuracy of the report as did aides to Rabbi Amsellem.

“Deny” well let’s see how this hog wash ends up!!
Questionable logic. If he is only “Shas Bet” it probably won’t get him past the threshold, whereas if he is a nationalistic version of Shas it would. If he adds others who aren’t known as hawks, there will no ideological distinction between him and Shas.
WHO CARES ABOUT ISREALI POLITICS!!!!!!
Just put up a post when someone wins!
There is a possible flaw in this thinking. Amsellem has stated publically that he thinks those behind the leaking of the Rav Ovadia video were behind his troubles in Shas, ie the Yishai camp.
Never mind that Amsellem still carries with him the Rav Ovadia reject tag.
This may be too messy. As I see it the only way Rav Amsellem can regain legitimacy in the Sephardi camp is if Shas take him back.
stupidest idea i’ve heard
yishai and chetboun were both against the draft, whereas amsallem…..
Sounds like a spin by Deri to keep Sha”s voters away from Yishai. Amsallem would likely alienate more potential voters than he would draw. It is unlikely that Yishai has entertained the idea.
Eli is an Ish Shalom
If Israel had more job opportunities for Charedim, they would not all have to go into politics!!!
Good point, Smiley!
