The Greater Sderot area has been hit with a number of waves of rockets during the past 90 minutes. In one case, a fire resulted in an open area. Baruch Hashem, there are no reports of injuries.

At the Tarkumiya Checkpoint in the Southern Chevron Hills area, an Arab was arrested after trying stab a security guard.

Israel Radio reports that Egypt is stepping up security at the Rafiach Border ahead of an expected Israeli ground forces incursion in Gaza. Such a move would most likely compel tens of thousands of Gazans to attempt to enter Egypt. Egyptian security officials are laying barbed wire and taking other measures to seal the Rafiach border.

Israel police since Shabbos have arrested 200 Arabs in Israel for their part in violence which has erupted due to the start of Operation Cast Lead. Some of those arrested are minors. The suspects in custody took part in rock-throwing, firebomb, and other attacks.
