The IDF Homefront Command has issued wartime restriction for Beersheva residents, restrictions that mimic other areas under Hamas rocket fire.
Public gatherings have been banned and residents are instructed to remain indoors. One is not permitted to ‘hang around’ outside and people are urged to remain close to shelters and sealed room.
The capital of the Negev quickly become engulfed in the warfare, with the first rocket landing on Tuesday night but by midday Wednesday, residents are well in tune to the new realities surrounding Katyusha rockets.
Homefront Command personnel continue checking and fine tuning the city’s early notification alarm system, which some residents report they have not heard in earlier rocket attacks. Homefront Command officials urge residents following an attack to phone the hotline number 1207 if they did not hear the siren prior to the impact.
Rockets fired towards the Greater Sderot Area and Ashkelon a short time ago did not result in injuries.
The heavy rain during the morning hours significantly complicated the ongoing air force efforts to track launching sites. While helicopters hover over Gaza constantly, the terrorists took good advantage of the inclement weather to launch many attacks into Israel’s homefront. The rain is beginning to let up at this time, which is facilitating air forces operations.
While property damage is significant, there are only two recorded cases of light physical injuries but the number of hysteria patients is climbing steadily.
Baruch Hashem, in Haifa, several hundreds students held a rally in support of the IDF.
