Authorities say they have arrested a man who made anti-police statements after he crashed his car into two parked vehicles and a Port Authority police car in Manhattan.
It happened just before 8 p.m. Wednesday near the Holland Tunnel on Varick Street at the intersection of Watts Street.
Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo says the man, who was driving a grey Audi with a Pennsylvania plate, claimed he had smoked PCP and “wanted to take out a police officer.” He says officers found what appeared to be synthetic marijuana in the car.
The 24-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition after being arrested on charges of attempted aggravated assault, terroristic threats and reckless driving. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer.
The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
