[VIDEO & PHOTOS IN ARTICLE] A New York City firefighter is hospitalized with serious injuries after a wall collapsed on him as he battled a fire in Brooklyn.
Fire officials say the firefighter was transported to Coney Island Hospital. He had been fighting a 3-alarm fire in a three-story commercial building on Kings Highway Tuesday morning. The Fire Department says he suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Seven civilians and three other firefighters suffered minor injuries in the fire and were taken to the hospital.
The fire is under investigation.
12:15PM EST: The FDNY is currently battling a serious blaze at 222 Kings Highway (near West 10th Street). A third alarm has been transmitted due to a heavy fire condition.
The fire building is a 3 story 20×60 commercial structure, and there is heavy fire reported throughout the building.
Searches for occupants are underway (and were delayed earlier due to heavy fire).
