Rabbi Chaim Amsellem on Tuesday afternoon visited the kever of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L for a first time, to request mechila from the late Torah giant. Amsellem arrived at 3:00PM, after first sending out a notice to the media.
It is reported that after the release of the damaging video by Channel 2 that depicted Aryeh Deri in a poor light, Amsellem believes persons behind releasing the private video may be the very same ones involved in turning Maran against him and having him removed from Shas.
The word from 45 Kablan Street is that this theory is incorrect and Rav Ovadia and only Rav Ovadia made the decision to oust Amsellem from Shas. It is reported Rav Ovadia wrote down his decision and detailed the reasons for ousting Amsellem.

The neshama of Maran and the political blogs in shamayim must be very confused as to the recent comings and goings at Maran’s kever, who is begging mechila from whom for what actions, etc. If I read this correctly, Anselam is suggesting that his ouster from Shas was part of “vast conspiracy” by unnamed Litvish political operatives to put words in Maran’s mouth and have them videotaped to sow seeds of discord within Shas, disgrace ehrliche Sephardeshe leaders such as Deri and Anselam and ultimately lead to the fracture of Shas influence in the Knesset.
