Joining HaGaon HaRav Dov Lior Shlita and HaRav Elyakim Levanon Shlita, Tzfas Chief Sephardi Rabbi HaRav Shmuel Eliyahu Shlita announced his support for the Ha’Am Itanu party, the party headed by Eli Yishai.
Rav Eliyahu has a considerable amount of influence among many dati leumi voters and his support for the Yishai and MK Yoni Chetboun lineup is a significant boost for the party, which will now clearly be viewed as competing for many of the same voters with Bayit Yehudi.
Other rabbonim from the dati leumi community who may be disenchanted with Bayit Yehudi’s performance in the outgoing administration may follow suit for Bayit Yehudi is viewed by many as being responsible for the unprecedented volume of controversial legislation addressing halachic issues in the outgoing Knesset.

In Yerushalayim, there is probably a slew of Charedim supporting Eli Yishai too.
