Greenfield And Hikind Call On Jewish Community To Attend Funeral Of Slain #NYPD Officer Liu

liuNYC Councilman David Greenfield and Assemblyman DOv Hikind have released statements calling on the Jewish community to attend the funeral of slain NYPD Officer Wenjian Liu.

In a statement given to YWN, Greenfield stated “I was proud to host a pro-police rally at the 66th precinct last week and I am asking all of our neighbors to come to this funeral on Sunday.

The last funeral was on Shabbos, so we could not attend. This one is literally in our neighborhood. We need to show our hakaros hatov to the late Detective Wenjian Liu and provide chizuk to the NYPD during this difficult time.”

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) said he will be attending the funeral of NYPD officer Wenjian Liu and is urging other members of the Jewish community to join him in a strong show of solidarity with the police.

“The brave men and women of the NYPD risk their lives every day protect us,” said Hikind. “We value them and stand with them.”

“We are more than appreciative of what New York’s Finest do and we should convey that,” said the Assemblyman. “Their loss is our loss.”

Funeral services for Officer Liu will be held on Sunday at the Aievoli Funeral Home located at on 1275 65th Street in Brooklyn.

  1. The way I understand it this will not be a religious funeral so there is no problem attending.

I think it would be beautiful if on one side a line of blue(police officers) on the other side a line of black(hats that is).

  2. Great idea but if this is about showing support to our local police then when deblassio gets up to speak everyone in attendance should do an about face.
