Chicago: Shul, Multiple Homes In West Rogers Park Defaced With Anti-Semitic Graffiti [VIDEO]

hcrWest Rogers Park residents say they were shocked to find anti-Semitic graffiti scrawled on a neighborhood synagogue and several homes in the Far North Side neighborhood over the weekend.

“It’s frightening,” said Rabbi Yehoshua Hi Eichenstein, who heads Congregation Atereth Yehoshua in West Ridge. “It’s anti-Semitism, first-class.”

The congregation’s synagogue in the 2900 block of West Touhy Avenue was tagged with anti-Semitic graffiti sometime Saturday night and Sunday morning, according to police. Several garages nearby, along West Estes Avenue and North Talman Avenue, were also tagged.

No arrests were reported by police.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) released a statement condemning the anti-Semitic graffiti.

“We deplore this despicable alleged act of anti-Semitism, which deeply impacts the entire Jewish community and the community at large,” said Lonnie Nasatir, ADL Regional Director of the Chicago/Upper Midwest Region. “This act reflects complete disregard for sacred Jewish institutions and individuals’ homes. We applaud the Chicago Police Department for taking this incident seriously and investigating it as a possible hate crime. We hope that the perpetrator(s) will be brought to justice.”

The League says they are working closely with law enforcement and the community as the investigation proceeds.

If you have any information regarding these incidents please call the Chicago Police Department at 312-745-5827.

  1. I wonder if Barack Hussein Obama will comment on this while on vacation in Hawaii after all that happened in his hometown, oh yeah that’s right it didn’t happen to the blacks so I guess no comment from the commander in chief.
