The terrorists responsible for the Shomron firebomb attack that left Ayalah bas Rus Shapira in serious condition have bene apprehended. An elite IDF unit apprehended the two the night following the attack. They have since admitted to their actions.
Authorities report one of the suspects in custody is 16-years-old. The two waited at the side of the road until they spotted an Israeli motorist. They lit the firebomb and hurled it at the advancing vehicle. The vehicle ignited and was engulfed in flames. They fled back to the PA (Palestinian Authority) village of Azzoun.
Senior pediatrician at Sheba Medical Center Dr. Iti Pesach reports that following her arrival, Ayalah was treated in an intensive care unit and she has undergone a number of surgical procedures including one to improve the integrity of her airway. She remains in a medically induced coma on a respirator. Dr. Pesach describes her condition as serious/stable, adding “She remains in life-threatening danger”.
Her dad was also injured, albeit lightly. His too is undergoing painful treatment to improve his condition and prevent atrophy of his extremities as a result of the burns.
Some local Shomron leaders told Kol Chai Radio that the families of the suspects must be ousted from the area and all their assets frozen and contributed towards the expenses that will be incurred in treating and rehabilitating the victims. They explain the lack of stern punishment results in an absence of deterrence, and therefore an increase in these attacks.
