Court to Rule on Elad Electronic Bracelets for City Sanitation Personnel

abA manpower company that wishes to submit a bid to Elad City Hall to provide sanitation workers is challenging the city’s criteria for the tender. The company has taken the case to court for it feels the city cannot compel sanitation workers to wear an electronic bracelet as the city demands.

Attorney Tal Somech is representing the manpower company. He has told the court the electronic bracelet is not a legal requirement and it contradicts the nation’s Basic Law guaranteeing one basic human dignity.

City officials feel the demand is legitimate, explaining street sweepers are assigned certain streets and the bracelet will permit monitoring if they are going to each street as they are required to do or if the skip certain streets. The city questions if the manpower agency is fearful of having its employees monitored.

City Halls explains the city is making cleanup a priority as it is clear the need exists. Officials add the matter of the electronic bracelet is not illegal as it was run by the city attorney before it was included in the tender. Elad officials add that this method of tracking sanitation workers is being used in a number of other municipalities today.

City officials tell the media that this is the most effective way to give taxpayers the best service for their money as well as ensuring the city is cleaned up and beatified. City officials’ stress they will continue doing the utmost to best serve residents.

  1. I think that this is a bit overboard. If they are not doing their job, they should be fired. A monitor on the truck would be more effective.
