More than 40 firefighters from Passaic and Bergen counties battled a three-alarm fire Wednesday that heavily damaged a large Victorian house at 114 High St.
Fire officials said nobody was injured in the Passaic Park neighborhood blaze, which took firefighters more than two hours to bring under control.
Deputy fire Chief Martocci, said the call was received just after 6 p.m. Emergency responders from Paterson, Clifton and Carlstadt joined 20 Passaic firefighters.
Neighbors reported that the family was Boruch Hashem safe, but sources tell YWN that the family was not home at the time of the blaze – leaving suspicion that their Chanukah menorah was left unattended.
The cause of the fire was under investigation Wednesday night.

OMG I know the family Hashem Yishmor. The family doesn’t think it was the menorah, because the damage wasn’t where the menorah was.
YWN – as an inside “source” of the family please remove your false presumptuous and inaccurate reporting of HOW the this home was burnt. Destroyed not “damaged”. Hash-m should bestow Bracha – Hatzlacha- Nachas- strength- and Rachmanus on this wonderful family.
Reporting although it is sensational must be done with the FACTS only!!!
OK..So what are the facts? The question is pretty simple–Were candles left unattended or not?
Mattes –
bottom line a beautiful yiddishe home was destroyed, B”H only physically, spiritually this home is stronger then ever and your main concern is how it started?!?!
Tell me a Channukah Vort and lift our spirits.
Nebach! This family over a year ago lost its father, after a lengthy battle with yenner machla, and now they’ve lost their home too. How much tzaros can 1 family bear? Hashem should end their pain (and ours) by sending moshiach bimheira biyamenu.
im personally related to the family and they would all really appreciate if u all stop making up what you think happened. and stop driving on other people’s misery. wanted to wish everyone well and leave it at that. don’t ask who, what, where, when… or any other questions.
