While the PA (Palestinian Authority) continues turning to donor nations, particularly the European Union, which in the past has been extremely generous, France announced on Tuesday that in 2008, the PA received $3 billion in foreign aid.

According to French Consul General to Jerusalem Alain Remy, $500 million was earmarked for humanitarian assistance; $1.8 billion for the PA’s operating budget and the remainder for specific programs.

As was recently reported HERE by YWN, French officials recently reported that former PA leader Yasser Arafat stole $1 billion in funds from donor nations, and other sources report widespread corruption is rampant in the PA, which to date has failed to exhibit a modicum of fiscal transparency.
