IMPORTANT UPDATE BELOW YWN would like to remind all readers to please use common sense if travelling to a destination for Shabbos. YWN has already received reports of traffic slowdowns on the Garden State Parkway, and the NY State Thruway. Please leave yourself with an adequate amount of travelling time.
This will only get worse as the already accumulating snow, begins to spread around the Tri-State area. As of this posting, there is approximately 2 inches of snow on the ground in Brooklyn.
Visibility on many roads was very poor within minutes of the snow starting to fall across the region this morning.
There are reports of multiple motor vehicle accidents across the region, and many Upstate NY roads that were plowed were quickly covered by the falling snow.
If you must drive, YWN reminds you to please use extreme caution on the roads, say Tefillas Haderech, and remember to always wear a seat-belt.
UPDATE 3:07PM EST: Chaverim of NYC has alerted YWN to advise people to avoid the Palisades Interstate Parkway (Monsey to NYC route) at all cost. Their 24hr Hotline is getting swamped with callers stating that they are stuck in standstill traffic going both directions (North & South).

I do not understand why this storm is considered a blizzard. If you can afford to get good snow tires, do it as they are worth it. Good road traction helps promote safe driving. Make sure the gas tank is completely full, as it might help starting the vehicle during frigid weather. You need a decent battery in order for the vehicle to turn over with a full tank.
I was on the subway going over the Manhattan Bridge Erev Shabbos. I think that the first time in my life I could see that it was a total whiteout over the East River. But, boy do I love snow.
Maybe I could tommorrow come over and play with my ainikel in the snow. Oy, do I miss her so much!!!!!
