Former IDF Chief Rabbi Brigadier-General (reserves) Avichai Ronsky has announced he is adding his name to the list of contenders seeking a position on the Bayit Leumi election ticket.
Rabbi Ronsky and his wife are among the founders of Yishuv Itamar in 5744. He later established the Hesder Yeshiva in Itamar, and prior to serving as IDF Chief Rabbi served as its rosh yeshiva. He also played a role in the establishment of Yeshivat Elon Moreh, where is also worked as a rebbe for a period of time.
Ronsky maintains good relations with party leader Naftali Bennett and the Bennett camp views his move as a welcome one.
