Bayit Yehudi leader Naftali Bennett met with his number two man, Uri Ariel, who leads the Ichud Leumi/Tekuma faction of the party. The two met alone.
Following the meeting that took place on Wednesday 11 Kislev, they released a statement that the meeting was productive and held in a good atmosphere and it appears that they are heading to resolving differences and not breaking up the party.
Party officials signal that Bennett is now willing to secure two slots for Ariel’s faction, the second on the lineup for him and another slot for a second member of the faction. Others will have to join the other contenders seeking a high slot on the lineup. It should be pointed out that in the last election, Bennett was willing to secure slots of the faction members of Ichud Leumi but he now feels that with the party’s growing popularity, all of the faction members should compete for their respective slot on the lineup, which will be decided in a vote by the party’s leadership body.
In line with the new Bayit Yehudi constitution, Bennett will have the right to assign two positons among every ten on the lineup.
