The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch in effect for the Tri-State area and beyond from Friday morning through the first half of Shabbos.
The first flurries were expected to start late Thursday into early Friday. Snow showers could affect the Friday morning commute. The snowfall may be heaviest late Friday morning and afternoon. Mixed snow, sleet and rain is possible in some areas.
About 2 to 5 inches of snow is expected in New York City and a whopping 8 inches or more north and west of the city.
In New Jersey, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect through Friday night for Essex, Hudson, Union, Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon and Essex counties.
The National Weather Service said snow and sleet accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are possible with greater amounts in the higher elevations.
If the forecasts hold up, expect delays on the road and at airports – but if you are travelling away for Shabbos, please make sure you schedule yourself appropriately.
Friday’s storm is expected to be followed by another one Dec. 21 that may bring more snow, freezing rain and sleet to the region.

2-5inches of snow in NYC, and 8 inches outside the city is hardly what I would call a blizzard. BH it is nearly winter time what do you expect? Each day gets one day closer to Ground Hogs Day!!
