Lapid & Livni: PM Netanyahu Closed a Deal with the Chareidim

lapThe mudslinging associated with elections in Israel has begun and before any official announcement that the current Knesset is being dissolved the parties are already making accusations against one-another.

There is an element of panic among some as there is a growing feeling the opposition bill calling to dissolve the Knesset will be passed in the plenum on Wednesday 11 Kislev. There are already predictions that elections will be held as early as March 2015.

The Yesh Atid and The Movement parties are counted among the concerned as they believe a deal between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the chareidi parties has already been reached. This would mean that both Lapid and Livni are likely to find themselves in the opposition following elections. There has even been a move to involve the attorney general in the deal-making that is allegedly going on but Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein announced earlier in the week that there is no legality barring the prime minister from making a deal with any party, including the chareidim.

  1. If there was a deal with the Chareidim, it would just be a matter of submitting a new government (minus Lapid and Livni). No need for new elections.

Lapid and Livni are probably the biggest losers in a new election, since Kahlon will take their place as the largest block of ex-Likud “moderates”, and he is much more likely to be able to work with Netanyahu than Lapid or Livni.

  2. כל המיצר לישראל נעשה ראש ולבסוף יורד לתהום
Fighting the chareidim is short sight cause you will rise and fall

  3. i dont agree with the above comments that the reason for this change is because chareidim are great netayahu is probably one of the best politicians he has kept a neutral stance forever being able to switch from anti chareidi to pro chareidi parties (as seen from last coalition and this) i think he did this as he sees there is more favor for chareidim (there are so many chareidim in the army and it is publicized) now and their opinons about arabs i dont think secular israelis are now so focused on the chareidim as religios rather there is a unity now for protection for israel and that netayahu sees. livini might have a chance however lapid even seculars dont like him

lav davka will netayahu win if there is a new guy up since he has been around to long i think people are sick of him but unfortunally unlike america its all the same poloticians for years
