K9 Patrols of Vulnerable Areas of Yerushalayim

k9Dozens of volunteers from the Tapuach based IDU Israel Dog Unit converged on vulnerable sites in Jerusalem to commence patrols with specially trained security service dogs to help quell terror attacks, in wake of the recent rash of terrorism in the capital.

IDU currently operates 70 patrol dogs in towns throughout Israel, offering dogs and training to security personnel in Judea, Samaria and border towns in Israel.

IDU also operates two volunteer units. One unit trains and patrols with security dogs and the other unit searches for missing people with SAR rescue dogs.

The unit offers volunteers before, during and after their army service a unique opportunity to learn to train and operate service dogs and save Jewish lives in Israel. The unit operates a dormitory, Beis Midrash, kennels, round-the-clock command center and also offers special programs where young people can complete high school and academic studies in addition to Torah studies.
