A gag order was lifted permitting the publication of a conspiracy to target the vehicle carrying Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman while he was being driven from his Nokdim home in Gush Etzion to the capital. According to the information released, the intelligence community learned terrorists had been monitoring his coming and going from his community as well as studying his vehicle and schedule. Terrorists planned to fire a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) at the senior minister’s vehicle. The cell planning the attack was headed by Ahmed Ibrahim and Salim Mahmud Zir, Hamas terrorists who reside Chermele, located in the Beit Lechem district. They have both been imprisoned in Israel in the past for their terrorist activities. The cell was planning to perpetrate the attack during Operation Protective Edge amid a feeling such an attack would result in a halt in the Gaza fighting.
They enlisted two other Hamas terrorists who have both been imprisoned in the past in Israel as well; 35-year-old Ziad Salim and Idnan Amin Mahmud Sabiach.
The cell was discovered and taken into custody, thereby preventing the attack B’chasdei Hashem.
After hearing the reports Hamas spokesman in Gaza Sami Abu Zuhari that Hamas is unaware of any such plot.
