MK (Yahadut Hatorah) opted to use a session of the Knesset Finance Committee to launch an attack against Finance Minister Yair Lapid. Eichler explains that Lapid is using his power over economic matters to strike out the chareidi community.

During the committee session on Monday morning 24 Marcheshvan Eichler turned to his colleagues and said “everything the economic experts said is correct but this is not an economic matter, but a war. The economy is being used as a weapon in the hand of the finance minister against his enemies. He has marked the chareidi tzibur as a public enemy”.

Eichler continued to attack what he perceives as Lapid’s incorrect path in the areas of bringing down housing costs and reducing the cost of living. He accuses the minister of harming the weaker segments of society. He cited the minister is discriminating and compartmentalizing hundreds of thousands of children who do not attend state public schools. He cites the hypocrisy of an administration that claims to work to infuse more chareidim into the workplace while setting new academic requirements that cannot meet. “The entire tzibur that refuses to study in universities are unwilling to be educated anew in the Soviet fashion and they therefore cannot get any position”.

Eichler explains the government simply has to remove restrictions and hundreds of thousands will be able to find employment, not just chareidim. Eichler concluded “This is not about economics but a war against his enemies and we hope HKBH will defend us”.
