i first met Rebbe B`M in 1960 as a bochur.I learned with him Menachas Chinuk. I always considered him A Ko-Dash; One day in the Bais Medrash ,it was very hot and I offered Rebbe a cup of soda in a ceramic coffee cup. He tasted it and put the cup down and traced the top of the cup with his finger. He looked up and said this cup was not To-veled. Upon investigation he was right.Only a Ko-desh could be so senitive to tuma and tahara. He made himself into a K`li to accept the essence of Torah and Mitzvos. In addition to this sensitivity,he was sensitve to the needs of the people who he met. He would say things to me that only a person who truly loved me could. He loved Shabos Kodesh and the end only Shabbos could take him.
For the members of his `congregation`Lecho Do-de, Kol Ha-omer will never be the same….and all of his d`roshoswill be a n ever-lasting memory.
The Rav ZTVK”L, was a true tzaddik. Him and the Rebbetzin A”H helped thousands quietly, just for the sake of caring for the children of the RBS”O. Who can forget when the rov, as a Kohen, would bentch people on Friday night after davening, putting his holy hands on the heads of every person waiting on line. Young to old, people would wait for that zechus, sometimetimes for as long as 15-20 min.
May he be a meilitz yosher for all of klal yisrael!
I would think that he did that because as Rav of the Glen Avenue Shul, he followed the Minhag Ashkenaz & bentched all the children – as is still done in KAJ in Washington Heights.
I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD on the same block as Rabbi Feldman, zt”l. He was not only an incredible Talmid Chacham but also a true Yarei Shamoyim. I was privileged as a young boy and beyond to have him eat all the Shabbos meals at our house whenever his Rebbetzin, a”h, went out of town. I was zocheh to hear many Divrei Torah, hashkafah, and halacha from him when he came over our house. The most I learned from him was by observing his speech and actions. One thought he told me, which I remember till this day (and I’m 40 yrs. old), is that one should never refer to the weather as “bad” but rather “inclement”. May he, as well as his Rebbetzin, a”h, be Mailitz Yosher for all of Klal Yisroel.
