After the Bnei Brak meeting with Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita by the Belzer, Moditz and Sanzer Rebbes Shlita, it appears representatives of the Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael of Degel Hatorah and Agudas Yisrael will be meeting with Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon in an effort to reach agreement regarding the IDF draft of bnei Torah in the chareidi sector.
The rabbonim will present Ya’alon with their demands and if agreement is reached, it appears there will be one unified policy to permit talmidim to report to draft centers for the first draft notice in which name, address and personal information is given to the IDF.
At present the Vishnitz and Slonim Rebbes are opposed to this as is HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita. It is unclear if the actions of the two Torah Councils will have an impact on Rav Auerbach or if he will prefer to remain opposed to any cooperation with military authorities.
