Police Visit Malls to Alert Shoppers of Potential Security Problems

swat112.jpgPolice agencies in Rockland, Orange and Sullivan counties went to shopping malls to appeal to shoppers to keep their eyes and ears open for possible terror activity.

Counter-Terrorism Zone Chairman State Police Capt. Michael Cahill said shoppers must be on their toes when they are out and about.

During the holiday shopping period, he said shoppers need to remain vigilant and alert to spot suspicious individuals and call the state terrorism hotline at 1-866-SAFE-NYS. That’s a 24 hour hotline to report terrorist or suspicious individual information.

The police handed out “see something say something” flyers to shoppers at the Palisades Center, Woodbury Common, Galleria at Crystal Run and Newburgh Mall.

  1. Is this law enforcement’s way of saying they are not up on things and each person is responsible for their own well-being? Police should alert themselves of potential security problems. Thank heaven there are police, but let’s start profiling and deporting.
