There is much criticism regarding the Likud list following the primaries, with Kadima applauding, Shas criticizing, and party leader Binyamin Netanyahu announcing to Silvan Shalom, who moved from the second to seventh slot, that the number play no role in his decision-making process regarding cabinet posts. Shortly following the election, Netanyahu announced that Shalom, his political nemesis, will play a role in the next government. This same holds true for one of his all-stars, Dan Meridor, who landed the seventeenth slot, but nevertheless is marked for a cabinet post.
