Members of the Degel Hatorah Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael Shlita met with the Slonim Rebbe Shlita to discuss the matter of the drafting of bnei torah into the IDF. The meeting was held on Tuesday 11 Marcheshvan in the rebbe’s Yerushalayim home. Meeting with the rebbe were Rabbi Moshe Hillel Hirsch Shlita and Rabbi Dovid Cohen Shlita.

The meeting in the rebbe’s home followed last week’s session of the Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael of Agudas Yisrael, in which the admorim decided the tzibur is not to cooperate with military officials in any way and not report to induction centers.

The policy of Degel Hatorah to date is that talmidim are to report to induction centers in response to the first draft notice and complete forms asking for personal information such as name and address only. This has been the policy of Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita.

The rebbe himself has been of the opinion that his chassidim should report to the chareidi induction center.
