BREAKING: Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) Holds On To Governor’s Office In New York

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo won re-election to a second term on Tuesday, defeating an underfunded Republican challenger and overcoming discontent within his Democratic Party base.

The Associated Press called the race for Mr. Cuomo shortly after polls closed at 9 p.m. in New York.

Mr. Cuomo, who took office in 2011 after having served as the state’s attorney general, claimed victory after a campaign season almost entirely devoid of suspense. The governor held a lead of at least 20 points against Rob Astorino, the Westchester county executive, in every public poll conducted during the race.
