New Jersey Democrat Cory Booker has handily won his first re-election bid to the U.S. Senate a year after taking the seat in a special election.
The former Newark mayor defeated GOP challenger Jeff Bell, a conservative with low name recognition whose signature issue was backing the dollar with a gold standard.
The 45-year-old Booker focused his campaign on bipartisanship, highlighting his work with Republicans in Washington in cable TV ads.
Booker won a special election last year for the seat that was vacated by the death of Democratic U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

No wonder why he had no chance. All he cared to talk about is this dumb issue with the dollar?? What an idiot!
2. why is that a “dumb” issue? perhaps because you didnt understand it and what the point of it was?
