Mashgiach kashrus Rav Alexander Zelfreind z”l, 64, was niftar during the night in Beilinson Hospital after being struck by a bus in Petach Tikvah on Monday 10 Marcheshvan. The niftar was a mashgiach for Rabbi Yehuda Leib Landau Shlita of Bnei Brak.

Rav Zelfreind finished his day’s work in an area restaurant and was returning home. He was in a crosswalk on Jabotinsky Street in Petach Tikvah when a bus struck him. He sustained a grave head injury. The incident occurred shortly after 18:00 on Monday evening. This was one of many accidents at the same location, which has been dubbed “fatal path”.

The niftar was a Sanzer chossid who was extremely close to the Kaliver Rebbe Shlita. He was an outspoken voice and activist for Shmiras Shabbos in Petach Tikvah.

The levaya for Rav Zelfreind is scheduled for Tuesday 11 Marcheshvan at 13:00 from the niftar’s home on Aryeh Ben-Eliezer Street in the Kiryas Bal Shem Tov neighborhood of Petach Tikvah.
