Finance Minister Yair Lapid is an ardent supporter of the Giyur Bill that is being tenaciously opposed by Gedolei Yisrael Shlita. Leading poskim in the chareidi and dati leumi communities fear the bill may split the Jewish People chas v’sholom, as well as invalidating giyorim from Israel in the eyes of many rabbonim worldwide.
Lapid sees the bill a bit differently than the rabbonim Shlita, explaining “the bill is very good for over 250,000 Israelis, some who fought in Operation Protective Edge will be able to feel that they are a part of the Jewish People and no longer have to feel as strangers in their own country. They and we are happy over this”.

the argument over here is fairly simple
is being jewish a name, like lapid and stern want to believe, and that is just it (like christianity)
or is it, like the rabbonim want to show, a great responsibility (with great power comes great responsibility) and therefore need to keep all the laws
What does it help them when it says Yehudi in their teudat zehut but they can’t marry a jewish partner etc.
The victims are not the chareidim but the very people they want to help by causing them more trouble in the end.
If long term complexities of geirus are beyond perhaps someone’s ken,
Realize this:Lapid ym”sh is supporting it!
Enough said?
Remarkable and telling!
Geirus has zero to do with charedi vs. dati.
If at all, charedim should hardly care less about it, while the for the dati, protecting the halacha, insofar that that is how they always portray themselves, should be held dear.
But we see now the opposite!!!!!!
I’m not sure what this is all about however it sounds bad
What is the sheigitz’s take on the giyur bill
