Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni at Sunday morning’s weekly cabinet meeting called for a severe military response to every rocket fired into Israel. She stated that as far as she is concerned, there is no ceasefire and the government is compelled to take action, and do so immediately.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak angrily called her statements “politically motivated”, stating her statements are nothing more than electioneering.

Barak does not agree that the ceasefire is over, and stated at the end of the day, the responsibility rests on his shoulders alone, and as such, he does not appreciate irresponsible statements, assuring the cabinet the situation is indeed under control.
