Israel Fighting to Prevent Lowering of FAA Rating

Transportation Minister (Kadima) Shaul Mofaz is turning to American authorities to prevent the Federal Aviation Association from lowering Israel’s rating. As was reported by YWN in November, Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion International Airport did not emerge with flying colors as far as air safety is concerned and American inspectors have decided to downgrade Israel’s rating.

Mofaz has begun contacting officials and on erev Shabbos, Israel’s head of the Civil Air Administration, Giora Ram, met with his American counterpart in the United States towards advancing the same goal. It appears that Israel failed in all eight categories of the FAA inspection.

  1. Since Israel implemented the strict security measures, they have not had a single air incident. The US had four planes hijacked on 9/11. Ironic how they are failing the Israeli system. Israel has long downgraded the US security, insisting on conducting their own for flights to Israel.
