Inspectors from a number of government agencies on the night between Wednesday and Thursday (the eve of 6 Marcheshvan) apprehended a sizable shipment of sea creatures and plant life categorized as ‘protected species’ and thereby prohibited to be brought into the country.
The shipment included 58 cases containing a total of 1,180 fish and protected creatures totaling 870kg (1,918 lbs.). A total of 248 different species were apprehended, all banned from importation.
Included among the many species were sea urchins, starfish and lionfish.
