President-Elect Obama Sends Condolences To Chabad Community

oblub.jpgMichelle and I want to express our profound sorrow and heartfelt condolences over the terrible tragedy that befell the Chabad Lubavitch community, and indeed the entire Jewish community, last week in Mumbai. We mourn the loss of Rabbi Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg, and all their Chabad House guests, in these attacks. They were taken from us by terrorists with no regard for human life, and we must remain steadfast in support of efforts to bring the perpetrators of these acts to justice.

In running the Chabad House in Mumbai, Gavriel and Rivka provided a home away from home for so many Jewish travelers, carrying out in their corner of the world Chabad Lubavitch’s mission of service to the Jewish community. They gave selflessly of themselves to others, and touched many lives along the way. As you mourn and remember those we lost, you should know that so many Americans share your grief and pain.

May their memories be a blessing.

Sincerely,

Barak Obama.

  1. #1 you are 100 percent right. I just googled it and it is spelled Barack. I dont know what that means. Maybe his own staff does not know how to spell his name correctly. Pretty bad if you ask me.

  2. It is nice to hear he wants to combat the perpetrators. I beleive President Bush would have also said he will go after anyone wishing to do the same thing. Does this letter mean Obama will not things of this sort? If this is the case, al pe derech hateva, we are in trouble.
Obama needs to after these guys full force, not just look for those who perpetrated!!

  3. What a tremendous difference between his condolence and that of George W. Bush.

I guess even his speechwriter couldn’t bring himself to mimick the deep show of empathy that our beloved president did.

  4. Actually, on the actual letter, it is spelled correctly so can’t make fun, too bad!

(but he has a cute signature, LOL, probably came up with it when he was bored in hight school! LOL!)

  5. The name is spelled correctly on the letter, the picture of which is attached to the left. It must have been misspelled when the letter was copied on the YW page.

  6. In the letter itself the name is spelled Barack, so the mistake (a trivial one at that) must have been in the transcribing. The letter itself is a very nice gesture, I wonder who wrote it for him.
