Rav Ovadia Yosef Shlita agreed to meet with American philanthropist Morris Abraham, who made a significant contribution towards the purchase of Chevron’s Bet HaShalom. The Rav gave him a bracha for his generosity enabling the reclamation of the building. The meeting was arranged by Shas MK Nissim Ze’ev who relocated to Bet HaShalom.

The Rav also gave a bracha to MK Ze’ev and encouraged him to continue to maintain a presence in the building towards persuading the powers that be of the legitimacy of the purchase and the Jewish presence in the Holy City.

Shas leader Eli Yishai, commenting on the Supreme Court ruling, stated it was amazing how one can rule to evict one from his own legally acquired home without a hearing, contradicting logical judicial practice.
